We played around with some old synthesizers and found this plucked patch on the Yamaha DX7. Groundhog Day was written in Joakim’s garage, where we had set up this cozy little writing and rehearsal studio. We all have slightly different musical tastes but we love how it all blended together in the songs we wrote. A few days later we got together and started writing. The hours passed by and by night time we called ourselves a band. A desire to do something just for the fun of it. We drank some Swedish glögg (gluhwein) and talked about our different yet related situations when it came to music making. It was during a Christmas party 2016 the band was formed. We worked really hard to get the right sound but soon got tired of the songs and decided to throw them away and make a fresh start. A year ago Oskar and Joakim asked Magnus and Gustaf to help out producing their songs. Magnus and Gustaf had been working as a songwriter and production team for various commercial artists. Joakim and Oskar had been writing songs together for a couple of years besides their day jobs as freelance musicians. Our Band came together from two separate ends. We’re a couple of friends linked together by brothers Joakim and Magnus. We’re a Stockholm based indie band consisting of Oskar (vocals and bass), Gustaf (keys), Magnus (keys), and Joakim (drums). The indie group’s new single ‘Groundhog Day’ is an irreverent journey through the minds of alternative writers. Welcome to the work of Swedish upstarts ‘Flat Earth Society’.
